Choose2Reuse Fashion show

Year nine and ten students who chose fashion for enrichment are this year producing a fashion show using reused materials courtesy of Oxfam. Each team came up with their own themes, some of which include Punk, Princess, Vintage Weddings and 60s Style. All the girls seem to be enjoying each lesson stating that “it’s great” and “it’s fun learning new skills” Enrichment gives students the chance to come up with new ideas and get creative. The show will be held at the Pavilions on the 17th December.

Your Song

This song is for you

Your Song by Emily Rennie, Kate Creeley, Athina Cooper, Hannah Liles and Shivani Palmer

Your Song lyrics

It’s a little bit funny
this feeling inside
I’m not one of those who can easily hide
I don’t have much money
but boy if I did
I’d buy a big house where
we both could live

So excuse me forgetting
but these things I do
see I’ve forgotten if
they’re green or they’re blue
anyway the thing is
what I really mean
yours are the sweetest eyes I’ve ever seen

And you can tell everybody,
this is your song
It may be quite simple but
now that is done
I hope you don’t mind, I hope you don’t mind
that I put down in words
how wonderful life is now your in the world

If I was a sculptor
but then again no
or girl who makes potions in a traveling show
I know it’s not much but
it’s the best I can do
My gift is my song and
this one’s for you

And you can tell everybody
this is your song
It may be quite simple but
now that is done
I hope you dont mind, I hope you dont mind
that I put down in words
how wonderful life is now your in the world

Why People Play Xbox?

In our BBC school report our group picked the topic of. ‘Why people play so much on their Xbox and does it affect our school work. In this news report we will be covering the points:

  • How much people play Xbox.
  • What are the most exciting games?
  • If it is starting to effect their school work.
  • And if it does affect their school work if there are any jobs involving gaming.

Currently there are 797 games in the world for people to buy. Just one of them games, Call of Duty Black Ops, has currently been played online for over SIX CENTURIES, and that’s just for Xbox!
Over 40,000,000 Xbox games consoles have been sold, a number almost as large as the population of England.
There are lots of jobs available to do with Xbox, such as: a game tester, a game creator and some people even get paid for making YouTube clips. But that is just a few. Thousands of peoples school work has been affected by games. People fail their exams and after they struggle to get jobs.
Playing Xbox too much can ruin your life!

Mr.Sheriff’s LWV interview

For the second year in succession, Harrogate Grammar School transported itself to Lightwater Valley for the day. Molly Allan and Megan Walmsley interviewed Mr Sheriff at LWV.

Molly (MA): Why did you organise LWV as a trip for students?

Mr Sheriff (RS): LWV is more than just any old trip, it’s there to celebrate the achievements of all the young people in the school that have done really well in the last year and that have reached the minimum requirement of a bronze certificate.  They must also have avoided getting into serious trouble at school and basically they have just done the right thing. It’s wonderful that over 1100 students qualified for it.

Megan (MW): What was different from last year?

(RS): Well the new ingredient was of course ‘Light Fest’ perhaps it was an alternative for those students who don’t particularly like rides. It’s also something different and it gives people a chance to perform in their bands or groups to be able to show what they can do to a bigger audience.

MA: What do you intend to change next year?

(RS): Next year we want to develop further Light Fest in which we have an outdoor auditorium in the centre of the park where everyone can see.

MW: So, did you end up going on any rides?

(RS): Well, I was badly battered on the dodgems by Miss Williams. I went on the Eagles Claw, and I have to admit I did feel very sick for a while afterwards. My favourite ride was the Ultimate but there were all these children in the way so I couldn’t get on.

Overall, Mr Sheriff enjoyed his day at LWV and took great pleasure in seeing other students enjoy their rewards trip. Hopefully, LWV will continue to be a great success and grow further to give students
